Yussof Latiff honoured with Asia Most Innovative Outstanding Community Leader Award 2026

At 96, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dato Sri (Dr.) Haji Mohd. Yussof Latiff, President of Persatuan Melayu Pulau Pinang (PEMENANG), makes history as the first Malaysian nonagenarian to receive the Asia Most Innovative Outstanding Community Leader Award. The award was presented at the Grand Platinum Hotel, Jakarta, Indonesia, at a regional ceremony jointly organised by the Asia Award Foundation and Mediatama Award Management.

For decades, Yussof Latiff has been a steadfast figure in Penang’s social and civic landscape, dedicating his leadership to the advancement of communities and, in turn, contributing to the wider development of the state and nation. Through his longstanding stewardship of PEMENANG, he has championed education, social welfare, cultural heritage and community empowerment, helping preserve the values and identity of Penang while enabling successive generations to engage with a changing Malaysia.

His continuous contribution reflects a broader tradition of nation-building through service — demonstrating that lasting national impact is not shaped solely in government or corporate institutions, but also through the patient work of strengthening communities, nurturing institutions and preserving social cohesion.

The award ceremony brings together leaders and delegates from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines, celebrating individuals whose leadership and contributions have created meaningful impact within their communities and, increasingly, across the region.
